ferdinandVisual identity for a new park cafe
The city of Bratislava reclaimed and restored a run-down building in a historical riverside park (which infamously housed an erotic parlour in the past) to rent it out to a food-and-beverage business.
Bistro Ferdinand came up with a winning concept and now offers tasty breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, one-euro espressos and the best soft drinks in town. Named after the Austro-Hungarian kings coronated in Bratislava as well as the architect of the building, Ferdinand Konček, Ferdinand is the place for various types of parkgoers and local office workers alike.
The visual identity of Ferdinand was inspired by an original ceramic relief art that adorns one of its walls. We used the elements of this art piece created by the architect’s wife Ľuba Končeková-Veselá as the building blocks of the logo and visual elements. The hand-lettered logo is variable, which allows it to change with the seasons – just like their locally-sourced menu.
